The real money in telephony How many Lucent switches are there in the long distance network? If NDS becomes a directory standard and if it is used to prioritize packets for delivery then you have some NDS smarts being built into a very large number of machines in every central office in every community in the country. No doubt every enterprise connecting into such a network would want a Novell server to help with setting the prioritization and direction of the data. I guess that NOVL would make money in the way Lucent does only from the software licensing angle. ================= If LU has thought about this, as no doubt they have since Young is on their BOD, then NOVL has a bright telephony future --- one way or the other.
