On the simplest level, a node is worth whatever anyone wants to pay for it. On our site we'll track traffic and assign a relative ranking, but, ultimately, the market will decide. It's no different than someone who buys land that is inherently worthless except in the case a huge mall is built there. Once one node is sold, it most likely will increase or decrease values of similar nodes around it. Or at least how we figure it in theory! Fortunes may well be made by people who guess right based on intuition for all we know. Again, that's why initially all node assignments are random... we just don't know for sure!
