<< Words similar to those were probably uttered by Apple when MSFT decided to develop their Windows O/S. Apple's arrogance almost sealed its fate. WinCE in the real-time embedded market may be laughable - but let's make sure they are joking - because if MSFT is serious about competing in a market place, even one in which they have never operated (ask Netscape), they have been known to be successful. >>

Microsoft has never been successful at something that did not leverage their monopoly on the desktop. Microsoft has an obvious advantage when building a web browser or any other desktop app. That is not the case if they are trying to build an OS that may be used to guide a missile, etc. Microsoft is also the company that didn't know what TCP/IP was just a few short years ago, and in even more recent history was still saying that the Internet was a fad and that they'd have nothing to do with it.
