(and hit send, that's all you have to do.It will then send you a "confirm command" message that will be self-explanatory, and the following "welcome" letter:

Welcome to the PROSTATE PROBLEMS Mailing List

** Please PRINT and >>SAVE<< this document for later use **

You are now a subscribed to an unmoderated forum which discusses
problems and treatments related to the prostate gland. The list is
administered by volunteers who receive no financial support.

Discussion includes symptoms, diagnosis, treatment alternatives,
complications, and personal impact. Our intent is to help patients
and their loved ones understand their illness and make informed
treatment decisions; to encourage self-study of the effects and
treatment of prostate diseases; and to support research into the cause
and cure of PROSTATE PROBLEMS. The discussion has developed a strong
focus on prostate cancer.

When you are ready, you are encouraged to send a note introducing
yourself (or your loved one) to the list. Include specifics about
age, general health, diagnosis, complications, etc. These details
will help other list members provide relevant responses for your
situation. For a prostate cancer diagnosis, also include the PSA
blood test result, Gleason score, cancer stage and any other pertinent
information.

Please don't be reluctant to post your questions and responses. Most
of us are in similar circumstances. We don't care about typos or
spelling errors. Don't let such concerns keep you from getting the
help that other list members can provide.

Your subscription starts in "digest" mode, meaning you will get one or
more messages per day which contain several posts. You can also opt
to receive messages throughout the day as they are posted to the list.

*Before describing how to participate, you should be aware that all
*messages to the list are archived and available for public retrieval.

-When you reply to a message, make sure you send your reply to the
correct address. It can be embarrassing if you accidentally reply
to all subscribers when you meant to reply only to one individual.
-Be brief. Re-read before sending. Quote just that part of the
message you are replying to.
-No commercial postings please.
-Rude or inappropriate messages will not be tolerated and could
lead to cancellation of your subscription.
-If you have a conflict with anyone, settle it by private email.
If you are upset or angry, take time to cool off before answering.
-Humor does not carry over well in email. Many people manage
this by adding a humor symbol (emoticon) at the end of a line.
A typical emoticon is the smiling face. :) -or- :-)
-If your signature is in a file, try to keep it reasonably short.
