There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that the SE Asian natioans are not as well prepared as the US. I even believe this is true.

However, much of the expense of Y2K preparation is contingency planning, checking, and avoidng what in most cases will be minor disruptions. I believe there will be more 'glitches' in SE Asia at the turn of the century, but they will simply wear the pain and work around the problems as best they can. This is in fact a cheaper (but less elegant) approach than the US has adopted.

For example, many SE Asian countries have chronic electricity shortages and frequent "brownouts" (ie power outages). A 24 hour outage on 1/1/2000 will be business as usual. This will cost them a lot less than actually fixing the software.

It is also well konwn that most countries in SE are are "one disk" countries where intellectual property protection is minimal.

One final point is that the combined size of the GDP in the SE Asian countries is much smaller than that of California.

So I think the amount of profits DDIM makes out of these countries will be minimal if anything.
