*** SKYT **** SkyTel may be takeover target-report
Reuters Story - April 01, 1999 20:16
NEW YORK, April 1 (Reuters) - Long-distance phone company MCI WorldCom Inc. may be eyeing wireless messaging company SkyTel Communications Inc. for a takeover, Business Week reports in its April 12 edition.

Citing various money managers, the financial news weekly said another large telecom company may also be giving SkyTel a looking over. Both WorldCom and SkyTel are based in Jackson, Miss.

Both MCI WorldCom Inc. and SkyTel were not immediately for comment on the story in the magazine's Inside Wall Street column.

Business Week said a SkyTel spokesman told the magazine the company does not comment on mergers and acquisition rumors and that an MCI WorldCom spokeswoman had declined to comment.
