WIND IR Reply by: lexusnexus (30/M/texas) 1414 of 1419 To all,
I wrote WIND today critcizing their PR campaign (or lack thereof) and questioned the current quarter's performance. Here is the response from De Anna McKunye (Investor's Relations):
I have forwarded your message on to both Ron Abelmann, President & CEO, and Stephane Schwarz, Director of Corporate Communications as they handle corporate communictions and PR activity.
There is no new news from the company. We are not in a position to project the first quarter, which ends on April 30. We believe that we continue to gain market share. If you compare us with our biggest public competitor, Integrated Systems, their results reflected a 4% growth last quarter and 11% for the year versus Wind's performance of 36% growth for the quarter and 40% for the year.
The embedded market is growing well. The customers who are more Internet based are expanding the opportunity and also have added requirements mainly for solutions (in the past we have given customers software tools and services and they have done their own solutions-and this is still the case for the vast majority). Wind has moved in the direction of being more solutions orientated and to have a strong professional services group that we have staffed starting mid last year. This group will consult with customers and help them with solutions.
These actions, anticipating new growth opportunities should position the company very well for this new growth business. We have also invested in and aligned ourselves with partners to help deliver solutions.
We feel extremely good about continuing our growth and growth in market share. We also understand that there are the new dynamics in the market driven by the need for solutions and professional services and we are becoming a more vertical solutions company growing from our previous broad technology base. This represents change and we are managing this well.
This is just speculative, but anytime the market sees change in market conditions and the accompanying changes that companies implement, some investors get nervous.
This is all that we can say at this point, other than we are very confident in our strategies for addressing change; we feel very good about our basic markets and the growth in the market and also very good about our competitive position and we will continue to grow the business as we have in the past.
This basically reflects the feedback that we have given to others who ask. Hopefully this will provide you with the confidence you need. Again, regarding PR and marketing activity, I have forwarded the messages to the appropriate people within our organization.
