I have Dragon but haven't installed it yet, because I'm waiting for the new CP I'll get when my office is networked this spring. I talked to several people who have it, and they all said: 1. plan to spend at least 4 hours training it to your voice first; 2. don't even try unless you have a very powerful CP; and 3. If you're using Wordperfect (which, like most lawyers, I do) it's unquestionably the best, but if you use Word, then Via Voice might be as good.

I don't know about the portable unit, but I want to keep an eye on that.

If it works and it saves me some of the $10-15 per hour (plus employer contributions and benefits) that I spend on typists, it'll be well worth it.
