BLong, none of those mentioned have a cable system to sell. CIEN has a MetroDWDM system, but not for cable. And it is only to increase the capacity of channels, not for the efficient use and reuse. LUcy has said recently they want to get into the cable business. Well guess what LUcy its a little late to be looking. CSCO has no optoelectronics division at all, though they are looking to buy one. So its mainly the cable suppliers,GIC,SFA,ANTC and HLIT. Well HLIT has the most installed systems by far,ANTC is trying to do one city on its own and having problems,Seattle. In fact TCOMA is getting fine daily for ANTC's mishaps(my opinion only). GIC is trying to do 2 cities, and has not progressed very well either,Chicago, and Grand Rapids. They are just learning how to do MetroDWDM. HLIT built the Dallas suburbs in just 3 days!! HLIT has over 7 systems up and running, and over 2 years of experience in building them. Their ability to make systems that reuse channels, are totally interoperable with everyone's cable modems, and uses invisible hubs is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the competition. Tim |
