<<<don't be surprised if the HK deal doesn't have Amati inside.>>>

It *does* have Amati Inside. NEC Toyko told me and JS confirmed at the annual meeting.

<<< It just amazes me how folks on this thread are able to read&imagine between the lines.>>>

Why would it amaze you when you're so capable yourself?

<<<Now this company is pretty much one man's firm since most of the management's shares belong to Cioffi, what happens to all the other directors and officers?>>>

What exactly do you mean? Are you suggesting they'll hog-tie him, throw him in a crate, and ship him to China?

<<<A start-up with only 9% management ownership is a little too low.>>>

Compared to what?

>>>Besides if Cioffi is so sure about the future of this company, why doesn't he quit that associate professor job and work in Amati full-time?>>>

What makes you think his teaching isn't an integral part of Amati's future? Would you want your Chief Technology Officer to be out of the research loop? Where do you think the best minds are found?

<<<Money isn't an issue; fame? He's a fellow... FORE's founders are from CMU, are they still teaching?>>>

A few nonsequiturs, there. For the CMU statistic to be relevant you'll have to bring alot more data to the table. How about starting by contacting every technology company in the US founded by university professors. Find out what they did the first year their companies were public, second year, third year, when they quit teaching and why. . . . Don't forget to quantify ages, years in academia, years in commerce, family members and attitudes, health and extenuating circumstances, ambitions and psychological factors. . . You sure you want to do this????

<<<Just some thoughts.>>>

Interesting thoughts, but to be meaningful you need to give us a few more clues and come prepared to support your assumptions.

I know I'm giving you a hard time, but, hey, I give my kids a hard time, too. Remember, I'm the word meister. Words have value and can't be tossed around like sand in a breeze. If you really believe there's some significance to the fact Cioffi teaches part time, say exactly what you mean. Then we'll talk.

Regards,

Pat
