evolution doesn't really get us much of anywhere
It's important in medicine, but that's not my field. When it comes to computer programming, an understanding of the mechanism of natural selection (and the variants of artificial selection) are critically important. After all, life on earth is a digital process. Programs follow the same rules and those who ignore those rules produce buggy software.
