Sal, I suppose it's just semantics. However, when you are getting support from a reliable vendor for your business, there is nothing commodity about it. CPQ didn't get 70% of the world-wide server market by selling computers to businesses with no thought of support.
Yes, Dell's sales are 85% to the corporate, govt, and institutional market. If you'll check though, you'll find that GATE does not have a significant exposure to the corporate market. They sell primarily to home/SOHO users, and have a long way to go to make inroads in the corporate market. That's straight from Ted Waitt, in an interview a couple months back. However, GATE is very strong in this mail order/home and SOHO arena.
At any rate, I don't see how this is going to at all cut into USRX modem sales. The popularity of the internet is growing, though not as explosively as it was a year ago, according to a recent report I read. It's still growing though, and IMO will get a good boost this year as word spreads of AOL's smoother access and delivery (from hardware upgrades), and of course, how x2 ROX!. Oh I forgot, investors are supposed to be cold and analytical. Sorry. -G- Also, if CPQ's $1,000 PC's take off, you can bet a good part of those users will also want internet access. The boom will continue.
Good luck, and don't be bashful about jumping on the USRX train when you see it about to pull out of the station, whenever that may be.
