this is a toughie ... a how do I, question

I have a HWP computer hooked up to cable modem, for on line.

also have a 486 Compaq not hooked up to on line
it has an interior phone modem, not in use.

What do I need to buy, to have both computers hooked up to the cable modem, that is currently just hooked up to the HWP?

what store or URL could help me with the correct parts?

I have asked my cable service this question ... they responded with ... "you need 2 modems, mam"

that is unacceptable to me, as they charge as additional $6 per month for cable service and an additional $300 to $400 for the additional modem

There must be a better way!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Sue
