Just to be clear, that information you included is not your opinion, but from the article. Also, it was within the context of the company, so I think it refers to the systems the company purchased and not the systems everyone purchases.

I am going to download the freeware and check to see if there is a microphone activated in my PC.

I don't think that is the case though. The article describes a corporate situation, and if I am not mistaken, once you are on their premises, they can record and monitor as much as they want. It is their property. Pretty typical corporate stuff. However, an ISP or any other entity that downloads a audio montioring program to my PC without my consent would be a massive invasion of my privacy, and they would be liable.

Just my opinion.
