There is an old saying in this business . " The first to bring a new product to the Computer Market will command 50% of the sales in that product " . In Iomega's case they have beaten the odds and now command a staggering 85%+ of the removable disk market .

You ask about the HiFd that Sony is working on and I believe that it will be a big failure in it's present form . They would be competing with Imation and their so called " SuperDisk ". This is a very big mistake on Sony's part as the SuperDisk market is going to be a very limited market going forward . Iomega has too large of a lead for any Company , large or small , to even think of taking any sizable portion of it away any time soon .

IMO anyone investing in Iomega would have to be looking at Iomega's prospects and not what Iomega's Sales and Earnings are showing at the present time . The prospects for Iomega in the Zip and Clik market is that they are in an ever expanding market .

We will be using removable disk technology for every thing from cell Phones to Barbie Dolls in the future . We have entered the " Digital Age " and the future is very bright .No one Company will ever take complete control of this market but Iomega has the lead and it is theirs to loose and I sincerely doubt that .
