chuzz...re:pricing pressure, and dell is likeable..and smells good!

excellent point on sales channel denominator...perhaps to stir the pot a bit more...with excess inventory at the retail level, the tendency is toward "close out sales", as you see on a lot of cpq at office max, staples, etc....the average consumer will buy "price" at the retail outlet....the price benefit to clear sets up a fifo situation...the rapidity of change per moores law does not allow "sale" merchandise to clear the shelves fast enough...new inventory falls prey and eventually ends up as "sale" product...difficult to stay ahead of the curve..i'm beginning to see the retail pc market in the same light as a purveyor of "perishable goods", a sort of a fulton's fish market....get your fish before the eyes glaze over, ......whereas dell always "the sushi quality catch of the day"........
