Mike,

3. Peripheral sales. Oh, yeah, all those giveaway printers and monitors are there because they are selling so well. Can anyone name another hot selling peripheral that has anywhere near the ASP of the box itself? Nonsense.

OK, I'll take a stab at it.

As far as business sales:

Storage area networks: techweb.com

Called the biggest thing since the advent of the client/server. This will include:

1)RAID's(redundant arrays of independent disks)
whatis.com

2)JBOD's(Just a bunch of disks) pcwebopaedia.com

3)Tape drives(DLT's mainly).

4)Fibre Channel hubs and switches(e.g. Ancor Communications). The connectivity devices that allow communications between the above item 1,2 and 3.

5)Software that controls the above devices to carry their tasks(from companies like Legato, Veritas and many others).

Already it's obvious that the storage biz is big business. I was astounded to recently notice that EMC(an enterprise storage vendor) has a market cap some 33% higher than Sun Microsystems. I think that the computer manufacturers have taken notice of this and will try to horn in on EMC's turf.
