Neutral mode? Wow, perhaps! Anyhow, I was always amazed. The walleyes were not fully protected from the light by the cabbage weeds. And they were not suckers. They were only about 5'-6' under the surface. My only guess is something like 'light diffusion' by the weeds and that they did have access to about a 30' drop off a short distance away. This was a sand bar that extended into a lake with about a 65' depth!
