MS Browser Alert:

I was just fooling around with the cleanup utilities in Win98 -- I ran them all -- after which SI wasn't working right -- viewed pages were still registering as unviewed. I've had this problem before and was always able to fix it by re-installing ie (or un-installing and re-installing -- can't remember which).

So, I go to download ie5 again and I get a message: "you are upgrading a version of ie5 in which the uninstall feature has been disabled"

Grrrrrrrrrrrr...

This is NOT what I was told when I installed ie5 in the first place. I was given the option (which I chose) of being able to run either ie4 or ie5. When this scenario didn't materialize (i.e. ie4 was gone), I didn't bother with it since ie5 seemed to run OK and I liked the new features.

Now, I'm wondering what all I have to go through to get the system back working right since there is NO WAY to uninstall ie5!!! What a mess and what a rotten trick. Grrrrrrrrrr.

PS The ie5 version I have installed was the "generic" version from the MS site which I got to via download.com.
