good questions!

I think (I'll look it up...) 1/2 gallon an hour for propane.

My gas company says we'll have "more than 1 day and less than 1 week" of natural gas if the power goes out, if that's helpful. So I never really considered natural gas for the generator, though you can convert. I think it's more than flipping a switch, however.

8.5 kw seems enough to power about 60-80% of my current (hmm...a pun!) electrical needs.
