Bid.Com set to join ranks of TSE elite

Bid.Com International Inc. will make history April 16. when it becomes the newest member of the Toronto Stock Exchange 300 composite index. It is the first pure play Internet stock to graduate to the market benchmark.

The online auctioneer has seen its stock (BII/TSE) soar from 60¢ less than six months ago to close up $2 at $14 yesterday.

Bid.Com moves into the index as Royal Oak Mines Inc. (RYO/TSE) and Fracmaster Ltd. (FMA/TSE) are ousted. As of yesterday's close, Bid.Com had a market capitalization of $561-million. The firm lost 55¢ a share in 1998 and analysts expect it to lose 28¢ a share in 1999.
