Interesting blurb from Smart Money on YHOO/BCST deal. smartmoney.com April 2, 1999 A Marriage Made in Internet Nirvana By Joshua Albertson Broadcast, with its $15.7 million in 1998 losses, will likely drag on Yahoo's earnings for a year or so after the deal closes. But Mallett says the acquisition will add to earnings sometime before 2001. In the meantime, broadcast's streaming media expertise provides Yahoo with a whole new set of advertising and content options. Picture a virtual Yahoo store where visitors can sample audio and video demonstrations before they buy. It's the sort of thing that Web users will soon come to demand. * * * AOL's turn to step to the plate.
