red,
ABZ selling its interest in Snap Lake may have been part of the financing strategy ABER is engaged in.....I believe that WSP was upset and concerned that ABZ would not sell it to them.....the buyer ABZ had lined up for ABZ's 32% interest in Snap lake is likely what scared the hell out of RT(I am guessing that DeBeers offered a marketing contract to Aber for their share of Diavik production and as part of the deal, Aber would also sell their 32% interest in Snap Lake to DeBeers-a marketing contract would allow Aber to obtain debt financing for a good portion or the balance of the money they need for their share of Diavik-this is just the kind of sneak attack we should expect from an outfit like DeBeers)....there is more to this than meets the eye......besides, 16% for zero cost is a better deal for WSP anyways....and you all can be sure that ABZ has absolutely no goodwill towards WSP....business is business and ABZ would sell WSP down the river in a new York second if they could....The whole notion of poor Aber being mistreated by WSP is a pile of crap about a mile high.....surely threadsters can't be that naive? Needless to say, if an outfit like DeBeers bought a 32% interest in Snap lake from Aber, it would severly limit the speculative upside potential in the WSP shareprice.....and keep DeBeer's aquisition costs low....and with control of the marketing of 40% of Diavik production too!!!!Just maybe, the legal sparring between Aber and Winspear will go on for some time?hmmmmmmmmm.
regards,
teevee
