RUPERT Murdoch's News Corporation today delivered a stark warning on the potential impact of the millennium bug ... Although News, which takes in BSkyB and The Times newspaper, is confident its own computer systems will be able to cope, it warns that failures from third parties, on which the group is heavily dependent, could leave it heavily exposed to disruption. "At risk" operations include satellite transmission and communications systems, which would hit its television networks and cable services. The group warned Y2K failures could interfere with critical systems in areas such as the production and distribution of films and home videos. Publishing and magazines may be affected by disruption to supplies of paper. A task force is working on contingency plans.
