I guess I don't understand the significance of this data. What I mean is, why are there so few data points? Certainly more companies than that most have reported in the first quarter. Statistically speaking 125 companies in the S&P500 should have reported (and that is a very small sampling of the overall market in and of itself). Or is this just preliminary data for a reporting season which is not over yet. It may be likely that late reporters have a more negative bias and bide their time to "cook" the books a little? Does anyone know if early reports tend to be better than late reports?
