Well, Josef. . .we agree to disagree. And that is progress. I agree with everything you say. I disagree with a little of what Mark Twain says, but agree that he says it all very well. But rather than start an argument with a dead guy, I'll just leave it at that.
As anyone on this thread can attest to, I love humor and laugh at myself often enough for it to be therapeutic. I believe that well applied laughter can start healing in the sickest of individuals. I think that humor is tied more to compassion than to sorrow.
My beliefs on humor:
To me, there are two sides to humor. . the "laugh withs" and the "laugh ats." Laugh withs show unity, compassion, healing and joy of life, where laugh ats demonstrate division, selfishness, hopelessness and a general disdain for life.
I believe that humor is the key to revealing spiritual beliefs.
Shouldn't go here. . .but I will . . .I believe in God. I believe that God created humor. . .and if He were to tell us a joke, we would laugh ourselves to death.
And unlike Mr. Clemens, I believe there will be PLENTY of laughter and joy in heaven [whatever and wherever that is].
