"the killer appliance will be when Microsoft upgrades WebTV with Digital VCR features" I like your idea. Hooked up to a cable modem, the unit could receive digital Internet broadcasts to play at our convenience. Picture and sound quality could far exceed ordinary cable broadcasts. It could give us a far improved "pay for view". The quality would be better. We could watch it at our convenience. And, I could play it again the next day to see what I missed when I fell asleep.
