Insiders and the analysts the company is presenting to must already know the terms of the merger and so they will know whether it going to happen at a premium to the current share price.

Also I think I like the idea of a 3 way merger between Randfontein, Western areas and Randgold Resources since bigger is better in the gold mining business. The valuation awarded by the marketplace for the 3 companies combined should be significantly higher than the sum of the individual valuations.

If we are lucky the merger will result in RANGY shareholders being taken out at $5+, once the discount to NAV is unlocked.
