...Half the value of Excite and 10% the value of Yahoo is totally absurd...

Maybe it is Excite and Yahoo that are absurd.

On what basis are you making the comparison? Audience? Yahoo and Excite arrive at their audience numbers through solid focused brands, Lycos through a network of disparate brands. On revenue? Look at the numbers -- Lycos trails significantly in the revenue game. On deal flow? Lycos is frozen while Yahoo surges ahead.

I think the relative values are probably right. The Yahoo lead is both related to revenue and to their position as market segment leader. The Excite differential is related to the deal with ATHM but even before that was related to the difference in revenue reported by each.

The big problem for LCOS right now is that the conflict over the merger with USA creates fear uncertainty and doubt (FUD) and prevents LCOS form moving faster to both take advantage of the new combination and to move forward on other deals. The months that this will drag out are going to be months when the competition can pull ahead.
