Good evening Kemble,
There have been several posts on the thread asking why I was suspended. This is the story:
I read an article early this morning on some accounting rules changes that affect companies using stock options for employee compensation. Virtually all tech companies do this, so I decided to post the same article to multiple threads. SI apparently has an automated system to reduce spam. The system recognizes three identical postings and then suspends your posting rights. I was naive in not understanding this rule, and so I was summarily suspended (no warning).
I e-mailed Bob and Jill, but it took some time to get an answer. In the meantime I notified several people on various threads about what had happened. The result was an avalanche of e-mail and postings in my support. I am grateful to all who spoke on my behalf. Several hours later I received an e-mail from Jill informing me that she had directed Bob to reinstate me, but asking me to please respect SI's multiple posting policy.
I really have no one to blame but myself, because I should have been more cognizant of the inflexible nature of the policy, but I said to myself that surely, this could not be considered spam. As Cramer would say, Wrong! The system is automated and mindless. I have suggested to SI that the system needs to be changed. We shall see.
In the meantime, I would like, once again, to thank all of my friends and supporters who rallied behind me. I am left with a wonderful feeling of community. I want to embrace you all.
Thanks again.
