Umm, you guys are mixing things up. Tamoxifen is, and has always been, synthetic. You're confusing it with Taxol, which was originally isolated from a yew tree (the Pacific yew, I believe), then yew needles, now a semi-synthetic. That is NOT what Duramed is going after. DRMD is going after Tamoxifen -- an synthetic anti-estrogen that has been around a long time.

Tamoxifen has indeed been pushed as a breast cancer prophylactic, but there are a lot of side effects. And plenty of competing products are coming along, including Evista, which is already on the market from Lilly.
