Clinton has done the fascists in Russia a great favor. Nothing on earth could have given them more credibility amongst the Russian people than our military intervention in a dirty little ethnic war amongst the peoples of a sovereign nation.

The only thing he has done is make it clear to a lot of other people's that they must unite in opposition to a superpower which would use force rather arbitrarily in a conflict in which it had so little stake.

Now that they have screwed up so badly, Clinton and friends are going to look incredibly stupid as they belatedly scramble to assemble a ground force and try to decide if it is politically feasible to invade Yugoslavia, or even more stupidly, take Kosovo without taking out Belgrade.

The alternative is to inflict suffering on the civilian Serbian population through an expansion of the air campaign against the civilian and military infrastructure. That's going to get pretty ugly, but it's an ugly little war, and for better or worse, we are irrevocably in it now.
