A bit harsh, LL.

It's not Harmon's suggestion of BCST as a takeover candidate that merits kudos. It's his method of valuation that counts: incisive and instructive. As it turns out, he was right about BCST's attractiveness to YHOO in particular, and pretty conservative in his valuation of around $4.75B; investors did much better. Day after day, you can't help but appreciate Harmon's value-added. A "paid shill?" No way, he's on our side.

If few analysts were on top of the Net last year, that's not Harmon's fault. Even now, sell-siders struggle with it. Steve put his name on the line when others were unwilling to do so, and for that he deserves recognition. Ryan Jacob also followed his conviction and built a great mutual fund; the Internet Fund's success has validated his insight.

If you're asking that Harmon disclose his personal positions, maybe he should. But one can assume he's long whenever his outlook is favorable. That's probably good enough.
