DOS ATTRIB ATTRIB in DOS does have the ability to 'un-hide' files. Just open the DOS window and type the command "ATTRIB /?" and you'll get a screen about its use. Typically you'd type "ATTRIB -h FILE.EXT" to un-hide a file, and "ATTRIB +h FILE.EXT" to re-hide it. Just a thought -- If the file is hidden, how do you know it's there to un-hide? Oops! Just remembered, "DIR /AH" will display hidden files. Hope this makes things better instead of worse, PW.
