I'm simply amazed that this message board is so inactive! I subscribe to the Option Investor and read their message boards. Altho its Leap board is also relatively inactive right now, it was very lively a couple of months ago.

It turns out that Leaps are very convenient (and safer) as an alternative to short term, day- or swing trading! Many of us who have traditionally bought calls and/or volatile high flying stocks are finding that the Leaps are a better deal. They require less capital and some of the strike prices appreciate as much (and sometimes more! - though that's rare) as the stock price! But if anything goes wrong, there's lots of time to repair it. Or make money on the Leaps some other way.

They're great in IRA's as well. There's hardly any reason to not use Leaps a great deal more than is being done. I actually think many traders and long term investors as well are starting to catch on to this!

Let's trade some ideas on short term Leap use for next week! Last week, I considered buying Leaps on RNWK, QCOM, AOL, and others. A friend of mine has done very well buying similar Leaps for her portfolio. I've made money on YHOO, LU, CSCO and others using Leaps.
And if you want to hold them, you can buy and sell shorter term calls thus creating a spread. Some of the more volatile stocks would be good for this because the calls change much more in price, so you can buy back the sold calls on the dips.

Anyone out there that's interested in a daily trading group on Leaps?

Kim
