The strategies behind O'Shaughnessy's funds are proven to have
worked over a period of time. He uses the concept of "rolling
periods" in his book. According to that, the balanced Growth and
Value strategy has beaten the S&P 500 over ALL the 32 ten-year
rolling periods from 1954 to 1995. It makes no sense to say
that the funds are "lagging behind the averages significantly"
by considering a time-period of 10 or 12 *weeks*!!!!
