I know about the Inmarsat system-- GEO-sat based, delays all the time in transmission, echos notwithstanding the claims to the contrary, and phones the size of laptops, with the antenna steering issue still a large annoyance. No marketing, no regional partners-- a lot like American Mobile in the '80s. Have to keep our paradigms in mind when discussing these systems. To paraphrase a US Vice-Presidential candidate back in 1988: I know the Inmarsat system, and it is no Globalstar.
