Dwight,
Many people are still furious that Clinton beat them in the impeachment thing, so every event is merely an opportunity to continue the same personal attacks on Clinton that failed for two elections and the trial. Don't expect an unbiased discussion, expect only the same old name calling, and criticisms. If Clinton did it, it's bad, period. For example, notice the same people who oppose what Clinton is doing in Kosovo, also criticize him for not intervening in Rwanda and Sudan. How can anyone oppose intervention in Kosovo, yet demand intervention in other places without the strategic importance of Kosovo? Makes no sense, unless you understand that the point is to attack Clinton, not to discuss the situation.
It will take some time to build up the logistic support for the introduction of ground troops. People who demand instant victory watch too many Rambo movies. As news of just how brutal the acts being committed against the Albanians are, public opinion will be demanding ground troops at about the same time things are in place. Clinton will then have the political cover to escalate. If he had tried to do it too early the naysayers would have gone nuts, and they wouldn't have been ready anyway. My friends in the Army Special Air Operations were deployed a week ago, they'll be on the front lines of the operation.
