Good morning, Bill. A little physics is in order when discussing Mr. Softee:

When a star ages and begins to collapse, it becomes a nova - a beacon of incredible strength in a dark universe. The final stage in the evolution of a star is to become a black hole, with such density and gravitational forces that it even bends light.

The parallel in the GG is for a nova like msft to become transformed into a Cow (of the Cash Cow branch of the bovine family). GE may be a good example. I don't see them controlling any critical technology, but they sure make a lot of money for themselves and their investors, as witnessed by their 5 year graph: finance.yahoo.com

Microsoft's last earnings statement may be the key to understanding their future in the Kingdom, as over 40% of their revenue turned into net income! If they follow GE's path and reward me with 5X increase on my current investment over the next 5 years, I will be one happy astronomer <g>.
