>>From comments I have seen in #mbtrading, RAM is a major issue for handling RT3. So 64 MB may be light and this seems backed up by your showing 100% cpu use during slowdowns. 66mhz is awfully slow. I know the video card is also critical to good performance. Some brands perform better than others.<<

Rick,

I will figure out how to use mIRC and tryout the on-line help that MB offers. I didn't realize all the "good stuff" was there <g>.

I believe my problem could be RAM, but quality, not quantity, because I can have the symptom on a fresh reboot, showing 20MB or more of free RAM. I don't see how the fact that CPU usage surges to 100% while the system hangs points to a memory problem. Seems more like a software bug interacting with some weakness in my system. Free Memory during the same time stays constant.

Also note that I generally don't have the problem during trading hours.

66MHz is not my CPU speed, it is the FSB setting. My CPU is 300MHz Celeron.

I know my vid card is behind the times. That's probably the culprit. The manufacturer is out of business and the drivers are probably lagging. Will be getting a good one soon -- Number Nine Revolution IV or Matrox G200.

Thanks for the comments,
wily
