jach,

Sorry, but I do not see the synergies here for Yahoo to buy Fore Systems. Why would a portal buy an equipment vendor that "gives YHOO tremendous control by deploying their own network"? When a company purchases network equipment from a vendor they program their network equipment with super-user access to give themselves total control. They do not need to own the vendor to acquire this privilege.

Wouldn't it make much more sense for a Yahoo to purchase someone who would provide more unique customers and expand their services available to their customers? Broadcast.com provides this type of feature through their video and multimedia services. It seems to me that Yahoo and other leading portals would benefit tremendously by acquiring companies that extend their reach, thereby becoming more of a 'one-stop shop'. Don't you think?

Cheers,

Steve
