Bonnie,

I believe that India has more English speakers/readers/writers than the US (and mostly certainly than the UK and Australia), so I do not expect India to up with a new keyboard standard. China may be a different story.

Besides, English is the only common language used in schools in all the Indian states as the medium of instruction. (I should have mentioned Hindi as well, though the ratio is staggerring in favor of English.)

However, I expect voice recognition technology to replace keyboards in not-so-distant future.
