It's not the mounting, it's the partitioning. You have to be very specific when chasing errors I have no idea what error message you refer to as being there all the time. The manual efsck -b might be necessary since it appears that you have shut down without issuing a halt command first. In Slackware the control alt delete sequence is aliased to "halt". If you rebooted in Linux in may mess up your drive. Obviously the boot disk does not show an error when booting. When you fsck or efsck a disk it repairs errors in the bootblock or in the inodes. Do NOT mount a disk that you are repairing.

You may have to reinstall yourself before the problem is completely cured. If for some reason a partition was named wrong with the wrong starting and ending points, or a wrong size, there may be errors. Remember a MSDOS partition CANNOT be removed or changed by Linux FDISK, it has first to removed by DOS fdisk and THEN installed by Linux fdisk. My suggestion is to use FIPS or Partition Magic to repartition your drive. You may still get errors from Linux fdisk still about partition boundaries but in most cases they can be ignored if you have followed directions to the letter. Reinstallin would mean wiping your Linux partition and repartitioning and then reinstalling correctly by doing something really novel. Reading all available literature about installation first. It may help.

If you want real help you MUST document each step you make and ALL error messages in entirety. Otherwise it is really shooting in the dark. Don't gloss over explanations or you will leave the helper in confusion.
