Apparently Network Appliance was not afraid to enter the competition,
so they must have believed in the benchmark. But after they saw
the competition they chickened out with their results.

As far as CacheFlow if you read their response they actually made a
donation to IRCACHE to develop the Polygraph benchmark program.

Novell or any other company had no advantage they didn't invent the
benchmark. Sounds like sour grapes to me.
