Clearly the timeframe for reclaiming the people of Kosovar's homes and property with a sense of safety, a viable police force and a justice system to sort out the mess will take a year or two.
In that time, the western nations could be educating the Albanian refugees in our homes (we certainly have the room and food for them). Part of the rebuilding can easily (and long-term profitably) include a communicatons infrastructure (Lucent? Cisco? Lou? Andy? Bill? Steve?.
The pen is mightier than the swoard. God knows there are a lot of winners and losers on the street that understand that more clearly these days.
So let's take them into our homes. Sure I understand that it would be easier to push them back into the bloody mountains from Cuba or Transylvannia as the fighting subsides, but with what weapons? AK47's or computers, email and chatboards? MegaMerde is evil. And he is banished to that realm.
Innocent people have infinite potential.
I love Yugoloslavia. It was my favorite country in a lifetime of travel. The people are good, the land is good. So is America, so are most people. History is irrelevant. All our parents and grandparents wanted the best for their children. That's it. Nobody ever gave a ..... about the boudaries, the politicians, the kings, the presidents, except as they benefit the family. Let's take this away from the power brokers, give some of the power we have inherited and squander on the latest tennis shoes and Mercedes and put it to improving the human network.
I'd like the bombing to continue, I'd like our forces in there (safely, slowly, insurmountably) on the ground. I'd like MiloScheiss Penisless. Hopefully our leaders will take care of that. But this is evolution. And the common man has to take a part if the common man is going to evolve.
How about you activists activating a network of individuals, large and small. Let's vote with our actions. Tell the politicians we don't want our tax dollars building holding pens. We want to embrace and work with the plight of mankind.
