Uncle Frank: As a newbie here, a suggestion. Re Wintel, where emotions run strong, what is gained by arguing about the gorilla-ness or non gorilla-ness of Intel or Microsoft? What decision is necessary concerning them? Sell or buy?

Who suggests buying either on Monday?

Isn't that the key test?

Again I go to opportunity cost.

It ain't whether Intel or Microsoft are gorillas or no but should new money be put in them right now?

On the flip side, should either be sold - lightening of positions or eliminating positions?

If so, why?

I would suggest that the only reason to sell either is a better use for the money - including the downside of a tax hit.

Otherwise, keep them.

The theoretical arguments are fun usually as an intellectual exercise but the burns I have suffered by taking the negative view on that indicate to me that this is a dangerous argument for the comity of the thread and not really necessary here.

Comments?

As always, best personal respects.

Chaz too
