I read Finnegan's Wake when I was in High School, along with Ulysses (believe it or not!) I went to one of those schools in New York that catered to people who passed IQ tests, and ended up in an advanced lit course during my senior year. We did some heavy reading, like Moby Dick, Don Quixote, Madam Bovary, Crime and Punishment etc. We read 1 novel a week. What was odd is that when I got to college I read stuff like Portrait of the Artist, the Dubliners etc. College was much easier.

I must admit that the Dubliners is my personal favorite. Maybe I'll reread Ulysses, but frankly I think I'm enjoying going through all of Dickens much more. I just finished Hard Times, and think I'll go for The Pickwick Papers next.
