Get this - a friend told me he found this as a link from the Sun site.

The Hack Furby[tm] Two-Fifty Challenge
afu.com

Conclusion: reprogramming Furby probably involves junking the existing CPU, and fitting another CPU and memory. You know what I think would be a swell CPU for Furby? That's right! A PicoJava processor from Sun. Anyone know which end of a soldering iron is hot? Let's put this baby together.
....
Once Furby has been hacked, my goal is to give it a Java API allowing the device to become a general Java engine. Perhaps it will use the Java Speech API. Perhaps it will use the Java Media Framework. Perhaps the hacked Furby will become a processor for running Java software that looks for Mersenne primes and belches as it finds new ones. All these things are possible.

If someone were to do this with the PSC-1000, it be worth more than $250 clams...

Are any of you IEEE people out there up for the challenge? Image one of the hottest electronic toys ever with a "Patriot Inside" label on it? :-)
