I think that people like AOL because it's non-technical, and they like the buddy lists and buddy chats. But it's not very fast, and it's looking like the DSL is very costly when you count in the cost of the phone lines. If the cost structure of DSL is significantly higher, i think that cable would be the clear winner for broadband, however cable is not without it's glitches, and isn't available everywhere.

I guess AOL is the quick easy ISP choice for the masses since it's technically non threatening, and they send a disc to your door

But for AOL stock to be worth more than T? or GM? or both put together? Some day textbooks will be written about this era....
