"John? does this mean that God will not draw men to him in the latter days by signs and wonders........P E R I O D ! E X C E P T by the crucified and resurrected Jesus Christ. I think so."
Acts 4 "29": And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
"30": By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
Acts 5 "12": And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people; "14": And believers were the more added to the Lord, multitudes both of men and women.)
IICor. 12 "11": I am become a fool in glorying; ye have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended of you: for in nothing am I behind the very chiefest apostles, though I be nothing. 12. Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
You have misred the following verse: "A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas." Matthew 16:4 It is to an adulterous generation that no sign and wonders will be given. God has always used "signs and wonders" to communicate with humble men who sought the truth. It is to a wicked, adulterous and arrogant people that he withholds signs and wonders.
I share your skepticism about the "apparitions" in Yugoslavia and many other places, but my skepticism is not based upon a hatred of Orthodox and Catholic Churches, but simply upon the facts.
In the love of Christ
